Love Happens Art Journal for Lindys Challenge

Good morning! I'd like to share my creation for the Lindy's Stamp Gang January color challenge contest.  Here is a picture of this month's colors:

I love the pinks and greys...so pretty! I have been wanting to enter their challenge for a while but never quite had the right colors. I altered an art journal using modeling paste, stamping and Lindy's Starburst Sprays.

I chose 3 colors Starburst Spray I thought would work for the challenge. I love the look of pink and grey together.  The Black Orchid Silver looked really cool sprayed over modeling paste and I didn't really want to add brown to the project so I instead chose black to offset the pink and white.  I chose some Prima flowers in the colors of the mood board, as well as some Ingvild Bolme resin pieces and some metal.

Here are links to the Lindy's Stampgang Spray's I used:
Black Orchid Silver
Alpine Ice Rose
Cotton Candy Pink

I had such a blast playing with these colors this month, thanks for stopping by!

Breathe

Good Morning all... January is the month for new beginnings, for planning, for reflecting. I have made a resolution to myself to try not to get so angry or irritable so easily...I need to just relax and take a deep breath sometimes.  I created this layout of the beach in Captiva Island, Florida, where I vacationed over the summer.  It evokes memories of serenity and clarity.  I collected these shells while I was taking a walk by myself at sunset one night. It was such a calm and peaceful place.
There are several challenges I was inspired by this month. Many were asking for resolutions or one word to describe what you want to focus on this year. So the word I picked was "breathe."

I used lots of Shimmerz on this layout, along with texture paste and a big Prima flower. I was inspired by the challenge at Mixed Media Place that is looking for our interpretation of "calm" and also Berry 7 Blue looking for that one word for us to think of throughout the year.
Here are some close ups:

Thanks for popping by today...
I would love if you would leave me a comment and/or become a follower
Sarah xoxo
I am also going to enter this into the Scrapki-wyzwaniowow challenge #90 which is for feathers (on my cherub).

Wintery layout

Hi all, this is my third project for Shimmerz and I made another layout using lots of yummy Shimmerz paints! I live in Florida where it never really gets cold, so my girls were thrilled when we visited family in Massachusetts last winter.  I love using wintery colors and snowflakes, and I admit this picture makes me a little homesick, but it is great just to visit!

I used Spritz colored "Sapphire"
Dimensionz colored "Blue Lagoon" and
Texturez colored "Artie Choked"

I used the "sapphire"to stamp some snowflakes, to edge some paper elements, and on the background. I also used the "artichoked" on the background and on the little trees.  I then used the "Blue lagoon" to add some dimension to the snowflakes.

I was inspired by the mood board at Scrap Around The World. Here:

It makes me think of both the beach and of winter. I figured since it is "winter" in my part of the country, I'd go with that!! In that regard I was also inspired by the challenge at 7 Dots studio to use snowflake shapes.  I love all their collections, but this one (9th Wave) is my favorite!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Shamrocks and Shenanigan's

Hello everyone, I'm here with my first DT post for Genuinely Jane Studios! I am so excited to be here and was thrilled to receive a 4 leaf clover book in my design team package. Both my husband and my families lineage traces back to Ireland and we both grew up in Boston celebrating our Irish heritage. There are big parties, a huge parade and lots of food. I thought it would be fun to alter this adorable wooden book with some of my special memories of St. Patty's day. I know we are hardly away from New Years's but I couldn't resist using this book! Here is the front:

I adhered some embossed cardstock to the front, then added some letter stickers.  I positioned the photo in the center of the open clover. The next two pages:

For the left page I adhered some cardstock then an Irish blessing that I like.  On the second page I gessoed, then painted white, then added some modeling paste through a stencil. I then glued on the cut out clover from the front and put the "family traditions" flair on that.

On the left page I first painted it with green acrylic paint then painted white crackle paint over it so the green could be seen through. Then I glued on my picture and some cardstock words that I popped up with pop dots.  The right page was once again covered in scrap paper, added my pic with a gold frame and a title. This was my family at the annual Dropkick Murphy's concert that they have around St. Patrick's Day in Boston. So easy and fun to play with this book!

My next two pages:
For the first page I first gessoed, then dripped green paint down from the top and stenciled some gesso hearts. I then added this silly photo of my daughter trying on some huge glasses. I finished it with a bit of lace and a flower. The second page was actually a napkin that I mod podged on because I wanted to see how it looked on the wood.  I love the effect! I edged in green paint, added some flowers and the word "lucky" because in the photo my daughters have won some fake coins.

Here is the back page of the book and it shows my husband dressed up in all the St. Pat's Day stuff at once, just joking around being silly to make our girls laugh.
Cardstock paper again and paper elements. Here is one more look at the front:

Thank you for visiting today, I urge you to grab one of these new books, they come in all different styles and make yourself a cute little memory keeper!

Happy New Year! Guest Designer for Shimmerz!

Hello and Happy New Year to you! I hope you all had a wonderful, low-stress holiday season.  I haven't posted on here in a while because I had a few visitors over the last few months.  Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to post a bunch of Christmas crafts & artsy things I wanted to, but that's ok.  I'm very excited today because I am up on the Shimmerz blog with my first guest design post! I won their November "thankful" challenge so I got a prize pack in the mail and the chance to share 4 projects over the course of this month.  For those of you who don't know, Shimmerz makes all kinds of beautiful paint, mist, texture paste and more.  The have a ridiculously talented design team so I was a little intimidated to be joining them this month, but still just really thrilled!

Here is the canvas I created based on their January theme "New beginnings." I used some patterned paper on the front and added texture paste through a chicken wire stencil around all the sides of the thick sides with Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez, using it like water color paint.  I then added an embossed Blue Fern Studios clock, some Prima flowers and resin. I colored the butterfly resin with "Blue Lagoon" Dimensionz. My words read "when one door closes..." (God opens a window is what I was thinking but purposely left out).

Here are some details:

Here is the info for the January challenge. I hope you will give it a go!

Post your work to our Facebook page, titled SPC010, so we know it is your entry.
AND theres something for everyone......
If you submit and place an order, Stacey will send you a free paint.
(just mention that you entered the Challenge, and which one it was, to be eligable)
If you are our winner, you get to be a Guest Designer on our Blog for an entire month and a free designers pack of paint.  You gotta be in it to win it though, so get out your Shimmerz and join in the fun! and SPREAD THE WORD!

Thanks for popping by!
